The best cyclists of Mercier Hutchinson, including Raymond Poulidor, have won numerous important races during the team's golden years. Raymond Poulidor won the 1964 Vuelta a Espana, and recorded one of Mercier Hutchinson's most memorable victories. He has also finished second in the Tour de France three times. Although Poulidor never wore the yellow jersey of the Tour de France, he was extremely popular and was applauded warmly every year on the Tour, earning him the nickname "the eternal second. Raymond passed away in 2019 but remains an immortal sportsman in the hearts of many French cycling fans.
