More Than Tan Lines: Protect Your Skin in the Saddle

For forty-five years, the bike was my sanctuary. From my first two-wheeler at age ten to representing my country on the Paralympic stage, I have spent thousands of hours under the open sky, chasing speed, endurance, and gold. Like so many cyclists of my generation, my focus was entirely on wattage, cadence, and aero gains. Sun protection wasn't even on the radar.

The sun was just part of the element, a badge of honour marked by sharp, distinctive tan lines. That shifted abruptly with a recent skin cancer diagnosis.

Thankfully, it was caught early, mild, and easily treated, but it served as a jarring wake-up call: decades of invisible UV exposure had finally caught up with me.

Cycling creates a unique storm for your skin. Hours in the saddle mean direct, continuous solar exposure, amplified by sweat, high wind resistance, and reflective asphalt. Standard high-street sunscreens simply aren't built for these conditions; they streak, wash away with heavy perspiration, and, worst of all, run into your eyes to cause that unbearable, blinding sting mid-ride. This is why sport-specific suncream is an essential piece of cycling kit, not an afterthought. Formulated specifically for high-output endurance sports, these performance formulas offer heavy-duty water and sweat resistance without clogging pores or melting under heat.

Protecting yourself doesn't mean giving up the open road; it just means treating skin care with the same seriousness as tire pressure or nutrition. Ultra-breathable, dry-touch sport formulas bond to the skin to withstand hours of heavy sweating, offering broad-spectrum protection that won't compromise your vision or comfort. As cyclists, we invest thousands in bikes, helmets, and gear to keep us safe and fast. Applying a reliable, sport-specific sunscreen before every ride takes less than a minute, but it guarantees that the sport you love continues to build your health, rather than quietly compromise it.

We are offering Premax Sport-Specific Suncream on site, with a SPF 50+ protection.
