Handpicked yarn gives the rider a luxurious sensation on their skin. The mix of specially selected polyamide and elastane yarns has a higher elastane percentage than other similar products.
Alongside the soft texture, it combines with the higher cuff to keep the socks in place on the leg and ensures the sock fits the foot perfectly throughout with the right amount of compression. This amount of elastane contributes to the longevity of the sock – it retains similar stretch and compression properties for longer than comparable, premium socks.
The additional elastane allows maximal flexibility whilst supporting the athlete’s required range of motion.
Veto Socks feature precision-engineered seam-free construction in the toe area using a flat seam technique that provides a ‘close-to-seamless’ experience for the rider.
By eliminating bulky seams, these socks prevent irritation, chafing, and pressure points, ensuring a smooth, second-skin feel even on the longest rides. This advanced construction enhances durability while reducing the risk of blisters, allowing cyclists to focus on their performance without distraction.
The deep cuff offers a secure and comfortable fit, ensuring the sock stays firmly in place throughout the ride. By extending the height of the cuff, it provides added support to the leg while reducing the risk of skin bulge at the top.
This design not only enhances comfort but also prevents the sock from slipping or bunching during intense activity, ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted experience.
With a cuff height of 18cm for M-L and 16cm for S-M, Veto socks deliver a tall, modern fit that sits comfortably at mid-calf. Despite their taller profile, the socks are fully UCI legal - making them ideal for both training and racing at any level.
The Veto 1.0 Cycling Sock has undergone rigorous independent performance testing in the SSEH state-of-the-art wind tunnel as used by World Tour teams and top triathletes.
The Cycling 1.0 product was thoroughly evaluated alongside a wide selection of premium cycling & aero socks from renowned brands, which ensured a comprehensive and fair performance benchmarking process.
The socks were tested at multiple speeds and yaw angles to best represent real-world conditions and understand performance.
Rather than pick the speed and yaw angle combination that best shows Veto Socks relative to the competition, instead all test results were averaged. This figure shows the average performance difference that cyclists can expect to gain in their own real-world cycling conditions. Veto were shown to be:
A huge 7.8 watts faster than bare shaved legs
3.6 watts faster than all premium brand cycling socks - no sock was faster!
Equal or better than premium brand aero socks as used on the World Tour.
Generally sock designers focus their efforts on minimising the drag behind the sock. Quite simply, reducing the width of the wake trailing behind the leg allows cyclists to ride faster.
For cycling speeds of 30kph and lower, a laminar boundary layer is operating around the cylinder of the sock. The separation location of the flow is quite forward on the sock - which is a similar location for all socks. However, data shows Veto Socks can still outperform its peers at lower test speeds.
With higher speeds and the introduction of a turbulent boundary layer, the separation location on Veto Socks is further aft than that of its test peers. The specific properties of our sock cause the turbulent boundary layer to have more momentum around the leg and therefore the separation location occurs further aft. This concept is magnified as the speed increases from 40kph to 50kph and the cyclist is able to ride even faster!
