We consider a windproof and packable gilet to be an essential item to combat changeable and cooler conditions often encountered in Spring, Autumn and often Summer.
After product trials and many discussions, we have selected this customised Santini Guard vest as the best possible garment. It's windproof, breathable & thanks to its hydrophilic membrane is highly water-resistant.
Sizing: This gilet has been made to be slightly oversized so that you can select you regular Santini size allowing you to wear it over a baselayer/jersey.If in doubt, please consult the sizing chart that we've carefully prepared to help you determine the correct size.
In simple terms, a gilet (pronounced gee-lay) is a sleeveless, lightweight jacket, usually made from a windproof fabric. If changeable conditions look like they will affect your ride, a gilet (in addition to a pair of arm warmers and knee warmers) can offer some great protection from the elements, and if it happens to warm up, can be easily stored in a rear jersey pocket.
The fabric used on this product is in itself very interesting. Made in Italy, this gilet uses two fabric layer bonded together for the best possible performance. The outer layer being composed of a polyester that's had a water repellent treatment and the inner, called ZeroWind, which is a hydrophilic membrane that has excellent thermo-regulating properties and as well as breathability.
