A fabulous addition in 2018 to the Prendas retro peloton, this bold, no-nonsense M.I.C jersey has a design typical of a Belgian pro team of the 1970s.
Features:
Whilst doing some research and planning for our space - La Vélothèque - at this year's Rouleur Classic, we were reminded of the splendidly named Herman Van Springel.
The coverage of the 1974 Tour de France by David Saunders in the Kennedy Brothers books is journalism from a bygone era with Saunders in the introduction taking aim at Felix Levitan for wearing an Adidas tracksuit top in clear sight of the TV cameras and then Patrick Sercu for chopping Gustaf Van Roosbroeck on the final stage who eventually lost out to Merckx.
Whilst assembling a collection of front covers required for the wall art of the Rouleur Classic was the object of the exercise, however you can't have these fabulous publications in your hand without opening then - where's the fun it that!
There was a really detailed photograph of a rider aboard his LUDO bicycle in the M.I.C jersey in Chapter seven. Granted, it's not a particularly well-known team but we all just loved the bold lettering that really stood out in that black and white peloton.
Unfortunately for Herman van Springel, the best years of his career were during Eddy Merckx's reign in the pro peloton and as a consequence his career achievements are somewhat overshadowed.
Expertly brought back to life by Fergus, the M.I.C jersey is new to the Prendas retro peloton for the start of 2018 and features a useful 4th zipped pocket and the internal silicon gripper will mean the jersey will stay put during your weekend rides, something van Springel and van Roosbroeck would have only dreamt about!
