Whether you are after a pair of Sunday Best bib shorts or you are looking for something a that will perform better over the longer distances, we can heartily recommend these brand new bib shorts from Giessegi!
Thanks in part to cycling's recent surge in popularity, there are no shortage of manufacturers promoting top-end bib shorts - normally made of a wonder fabric - which enables the price of the garment to be marked up ever higher. These bib shorts from Giessegi are different though, so read on...
Mick brought numerous samples back from his last visit to Giessegi and we were keen to talk about the three models that he favoured. The only size medium in his selection were these bib shorts made from a combination of Resistex Bioceramic and LycraSport, so I was able to immediately take a pair out and the subsequently test over a number of months to determine the worth of adding them to our bib short range.
The Resistex name maybe familiar to you if you've purchased a pair of our High Summer socks in the past - it's Resistex that provide the key Carbon yarn.
There is plenty of blurb on the Resistex website about the Bioceramic fabric, but I'd rather give you my first-hand experience of it. In all of my years riding, I have never had a pair of bib shorts with as much stretch as these whilst still offering a good level of compression which ultimately results in an extremely comfortable time out on the bike.
The fabric has stood up to repeated washes well (my rides tend to be on my gravel bike - so they get more washes per kilometre than most) and one of the other advantages is that the fabric shields against harmful UV-A and UV-B ultraviolet rays.
Giessegi have added their top-rated, multi-density Endurance Seat Pad at the heart of the garment which has been developed with the help of a number of professional riders. Something I have experienced with all Giessegi seat pads, is that the comfort actually improves after 2-3 rides/washes so my tip would be once you are 100% sure on your size, wash them before your first ride.
"What happened to the other samples?" I hear you say.....
We also selected the new version of the Trebbio shorts with the Rekord seat pad to add to our range of bib shorts available which are £20 cheaper.
