While a long-sleeved base layer might seem a little premature right now, it won't be long before things get much colder and you'll be glad of the extra protection from the elements.


You could do a lot worse than this offering from Prendas Ciclismo. The Comfortec undervest is designed to wick sweat and even offer a degree of windproofing. The large size tested was on the snug side, and fitted perfectly, though I usually wear medium. It is close-fitting, but comfortable and unrestrictive, with no bagginess.


On the bike it did exactly as it was supposed to and I stayed warm even into biting headwinds, with the inner wicking material doing its job superbly well.


The Comfortec also comes in a short-sleeved version and a sleeveless design is due in the spring.
