This Molteni retro leisure sweater is the first garment in the Prendas leisure range that we have been working on for months!
It's added to the other cycling garments available that relate to the famous Molteni team and we are made up with the result!
There was a time when pro riders were given sweaters/track suit tops to wear when off the bike. Back in the day there were no sublimation (printing on fabric) techniques and all the sponsor logos had to be embroidered or in the case of felt lettering, stuck on. We have attempted to replicate this look with modern techniques. The lettering applied to this garment is both embroidery and the unique "3D" which is a combination of embroidered and appliqué. The collar, cuffs and waist are 3 colour stripe knit and the Italian scudetto is an additional detail.
The jacket is intended as a casual garment and is a fleece backed cotton/polyester mix which is what we call "mid weight" and unlike our cycling jerseys is only a semi form fitting cut which is loose without being baggy, although it will allow other layers to be worn underneath. It's a perfect for most temperatures, even summer when the evenings can be cool. YKK colour matched zip and slant side pockets complete a good quality and fine looking garment.
The garment is made from a 65% Cotton and 35% Polyester mix to provide the best comfort as well as being a good mix for longevity after repeated machine washes.
We've looked all over Europe to find a suitable manufacturer for this project and we are delighted with the results from this Portuguese factory that have made garments for some internationally renowned brands most of whom then decided to move production to the far east to save a few Euro-cents per garment. Portugal's textile industry has been getting itself back on track despite years of competition from cheaper Asian countries. Quality is definitely not an issue.
A cautionary note on sizing: We've been developing a in-depth sizing chart for all of these items, but in the mean time, a rough estimate is to go one size smaller than your current (Italian made) cycling jersey. Additionally, "Harry" the Prendas mannequin wears a size Medium and he is 6ft tall, 39" chest and 33" waist.

10/5, Prendas have done it again !. Ordered the Molteni leisure top as a birthday treat to myself and it was here in less than 24 hours from ordering – at the standard postal rate! This is a real quality garment, make no mistake. The material used will be ideal to use from early autumn right the way through until the summer arrives, that'll be an all year round top then.... The lettering is well embroidered and the zip chunky. I followed the fitting directions (based on already having a Prendas SS jersey in XXL) and ordered the XL leisure top. However, a handwritten note arrived with the top from 'Mick' to say that, based on the fact he too had this jacket, he thought the Large would suffice – and he was right, it fits perfect. One practical thing I would ask is – what are the washing instructions for the garment please? So many other internet based firms could learn so much from Prendas about quality of service and product. In my opinion, no one comes close to Prendas for 'desirability' and service and it's probably why my wife wants to restrict my access to their site under her 'parental control' list... E.B. (GBR)
